Social policy in China: Development and Well-Being

This book deals with the development of China's welfare system since the inception of its open door policy in 1978, with particular reference to five key areas employment, social security, health, education, and housing. As well as giving factual information on Chinese social policies, the book also develops an in-depth understanding of the impact of welfare changes over the past two decades on people's quality of life, the social division of labor, and the distribution of the welfare burden between individuals and social institutions.
