Developments in direct payments

The development of direct payments is arguably one of the most interesting and innovative social welfare developments in recent years. The UK government is currently committed to the implementation of the Community Care (Direct Payments) Act 1996, which with funds and further legislation since 2003, makes the provision of direct payments to eligible individuals a duty for local authorities.
