Using theory to explore health, medicine and society

The area of health, medicine, and illness is well served with books focusing on health policy and social inequalities, illuminated by one or two specific theories. In contrast, this book draws on a broad range of theoretical perspectives to provide contrasting insights into a number of popular health related issues, including binge drinking, obesity, the prominence of therapy, and the search for happiness. Based on the teaching experiences of the authors, the book will 'bring to life' social theories relating to health and illness by using a unique case study approach.
