His follow-up venture was bankrolled by George, long-time friend and supporter. What Rathboffin needed more than anything was a boutique hotel. The Conyers would be a reflection of Sebastian's sprezzatura. He envisaged an oasis of elegant calm for discerning guests, free of hoi polloi. George knew he was taking a risk, but Sebastian really seemed to have learned from his previous mistakes. Although a rigorous business plan underpinned the project, reservations were still warranted. A hotel for Sebastian would be like a theater for Feydeau. The curtain was set to rise, the narcissistic womanizer poised to move center stage.
