Ancient Rome-a city ruled by the bloodthirsty Emperor Nero; a place of decadence and debauchery, of hedonistic pleasures and deadly delights. A secret sect, a brotherhood of dark and powerful creatures, dwells in the catacombs beneath the city. They look like Romans. They pass through the shadows, working as slaves, mingling with the people of Rome. But they have a higher purpose-and they have a plan. They will weave their threads throughout history, until they make history-or unravel it entirely.
