'What kind of presumptuous fool volunteers to write a book about songwriting?

Well, this one, apparently. In my defence, I have been largely thinking about songwriting, almost to the exclusion of everything else, for most of my adult life. And while I haven't exactly had much in the way of chart hits with my work, I've written just shy of 200 songs, mostly alone, occasionally together with others. I've been touring those songs for twenty years, and making a living from them for around half of that time. It's the work of my adult life. So, in fairness, I do have some thoughts on the topic that might be worth sharing with the world.

This, then, is a travel memoir of my own journeys through song. I hope you enjoy the journey.'
