Libby, 14, lives with her mum, Kate, who has met someone new. Opting to introduce everyone on 'neutral ground', Libby, her mum, her new boyfriend Graham, and his eight year old son Cam, head to a cottage in the Grampians for a long weekend. Everything starts well, when they arrive to a snowy landscape. Libby builds a snowman that Cam knocks down, and things take a turn for the worse. On a walk the pair see a cat watching them, when Cam tries to approach it Libby draws him back. Wildcats can be dangerous! Libby's mum fractures her leg and Libby and Cam are left in the cottage on their own as the snow falls heavier. When Graham can't make it back Libby and Cam decide to walk to the wildlife park by themselves. Lost in a blizzard, the two find some wildcat kittens alone and hide with them from the snow for a few hours. When the new family are finally reunited everyone explodes in an argument on who is to blame. A few months later, at home, where Cam and Libby survive visits to each other's homes - and Libby's grandparents have welcomed Cam with open arms!
