Ten-year-old Ian is addicted to reading. But he needs the help of Lucy, the local librarian, to smuggle books past his overbearing mother, who has enrolled him in anti-gay classes. When Lucy finds Ian camped out in the library with a backpack and an escape plan, she allows herself to be hijacked, and the pair embark on a spontaneous road trip.
