KATE SHUGAK is a native Aleut working as a private investigator in Alaska. Resourceful, strong-willed, defiant, Kate is tougher than your average heroine - and she needs to be to survive the worst the Alaskan wilds can throw at her.

PLAY WITH FIRE. A ten-year-old girl 'hires' Kate to find her missing father and when Kate stumbles across a body in the woods she fears she may have found him. Finding out what happened will lead Kate to a right-wing religious sect, a conspiracy of silence and a smouldering evil.
