Harding, J: Up the Road (Current Theatre S)

First produced in Melbourne by the Ilbijerri Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Theatre Co-operative in 1991. It was then work-shopped at the 1995 Australian National Playwrights' Conference. Neil Armfield has assembled a first rate team for a co-production between Playbox and Belvoir Street Theatre. John Harding's play is set in the remote Aboriginal community of Flat Creek, where life is pretty uncomplicated -- that is until Ian Sampson, Canberra bureaucrat, returns home.
