    Sunrise

    Description

In 1971, beautiful Famagusta, on the north- eastern coast of Cyprus, is the most desirable resort in the Mediterranean, and The Sunrise is its most glamorous hotel. Elsewhere there is unrest and violence between Greek and Turkish communities. In 1974 Turkey invades the island to protect the Turkish Cypriot minority. As Famagusta is shelled, the city's population flees and many expect to be home again soon. "The Sunrise" tells the story of two families who are left behind living in hiding. 2014 is the 40th anniversary of the invasion of Cyprus.
