After 18 years of extensive research, it is with great pleasure that we announce the publication of the first volume of the Beholding Beauty Books series. As a bridge between anthropology and aesthetics, the Beholding Beauty series dives deep into the world's most sacred and mysterious rituals of cosmetics and adornment as well as their archaic meanings - traditions that are unfortunately being lost and forgotten with the onslaught of an increasingly homogenised world. The series is an homage to all women and Mother Earth. The first volume of Beholding Beauty begins in the Horn of Africa, the cradle of mankind, showcasing and documenting the history and significance behind the Horns ancient beautification and adornment rituals. With spectacular photographs, this historic volume provides insightful portraits of the Horns women, guardians of ancient wisdom, and captures every intricate detail and fine nuance of their arts of beauty and wellbeing, set against a vivid backdrop of some of the regions most archaic and pristine landscapes.
