Serge Jaroff (1896-1985) founded his world-famous Don




in 1923. The choir consisted of Don Cossacks living in exile,
and appeared throughout the world and whose repertoire








as folklore. On the basis of this repertoire the choir became

culture. In 1979 the choir gave its last concert in Paris and
continued under Jaroff"s direction until 1981. Numerous
ensembles followed in their footsteps or set up in competition.
On this double CD are recordings made only by the Don
Cossacks under the direction of their founder Serge Jaroff.
It is a wonderful "best of" album, including the hits Kalinka,
Abendglocken (Evening Bells), Ich bete an die Macht der
Liebe ("I pray to the power of love", Eintönig klingt hell das
Glöckchen ("The monotonous chiming of the little bell")
