The Three Orchestral Pieces, Op. 6, (1913-1915) are in Berg's unique voice - highly chromatic, dark, brooding, often romantic - and rank among the most remarkable and explosive large-scale orchestral works of the early 20th century. Gidon Kremer joins Colin Davis and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks for Berg's Violin Concerto, 'To the Memory of an Angel,' composed on learning of the death of the teenaged Manon Gropius, daughter of his close friends Alma Mahler Gropius and Walter Gropius.
