At the end of 1997 professor, Dr. Bengt Algot Sorensen retired from Odense University, and to mark the occasion the Department of German Studies decided to gather for publication a selection of his essays which had previously appeared only in scientific periodicals.
This selection bears witness to the versatility and scientific originality of a distinguished scholar. It is also an important contribution to German and Scandinavian literary and intellectual studies.
