Allan Karlsson, on his hundredth birthday, decides to escape from the nursing home and head for the bus station. A young man asks him to watch his bag, but the bus arrives before the man returns and Allan climbs on with the suitcase, ignoring its contents. Now he is about to turn the country upside down.
