Widespread generic phenomena such as wealth and poverty, power and marginality, globalization and localization, lie at the root of languages and codes that graphic designers must interpret and translate into visual forms of communication. As willing participants or counter-agents, the first issue of Stereograph, React analyzes this system of signs and recognizes the designer's capacity to codify those features that make up our environment. Moreover, React examines the divide between dissidence and obedience, evaluating the opportunities and outcomes seized by graphic designers and visual communicators as they tackle this dynamic terrain. Unconventional in its approach, critical and vocal, not content to simply report, this new publication stimulates discussion and new perspectives on design through the work of prominent figures such as Shepard Fairey, Craig Foster, De Designpolitie, Evan Roth, Ji Lee, Graffitti Research, Lab Tinkin, WK Interact, Jonathan Harns, Bestiario, Jorge Rodriguez Gerada, Bureau d'e-tudes.
