Since the late 1970s the artist Nanne Meyer has devoted herself exclusively to the medium of drawing. The questions surrounding her relationship to the world thread throughout her oeuvre and are expressed in large series, individual drawings, and her illustrated annuals. Besides experimenting with the various relationships between textual and visual languages, her attention is mainly focused on mobile processes, repetition, transformation, transparency, disappearance, and becoming, as well as on the simultaneity of various events, energies, and speeds. The (model-like) exploration of time and space that occurs when drawing also led her to cartography. This volume is the first comprehensive survey of Meyer's work: her inventive drawings are all here, added to the context of the diverse series she has been working on for years.
Nanne Meyer (*1953, Hamburg) is the recipient of many grants and awards, including the Villa Massimo Rome and the Hannah Höch Prize, Berlin. From 1994 to 2016 she taught at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee. She lives in Berlin.
