Some psychotic patients are so deeply trapped in their own world that conversational therapy for their problem proves to be a threat to them or remains unsuccessful. A more specific therapeutic approach is necessary that enables a dialogue to take place between therapist and patient. This volume is concerned with new psychoanalytic concepts that have been developed to treat psychotic patients. Some, but not all, of such patients are nearly inaccessible, which puts a particular burden on the therapist. For these patients special techniques are described that enable the initial monologue nature of the therapy to be transformed into a dialogue. This results in modifying basic considerations of how to treat psychoses.
