This volume completes the reference work, which has been in publication since 1995. It combines personal biographies and brief articles arranged in alphabetical order on German writers who were first published from 1830 to 1880, and thereby constitutes a direct continuation of Goedeke's Outline on the History of German Writing. Volumes I to VIII comprise a total of 13 books.
