"I take photographs, I don't do Photoshop" is a telling statement by photographer Karl Louis.
Driven by his creativity and thirst for perfection, the idea for a picture often initially evolves in his head. Then, priority is given to the erotic presentation of powerful-looking women. Striking locations, bizzare rock formations, beaches or endless roads are the inspirational backgrounds to his dazzling array of female landscapes. His photos are characterized by the interplay of cool eroticism and glamourous sensuality.
Karl Louis ensures the personality of the model matches that of the location, and this often inspires not just good single shots, but an entire series that tell their own story. Karl Louis clearly admires and respects the female, and these values inform his work as a creative artist.
Natalie Sohngen, model and photographer
Karl Louis was born 1959 and grew up in the swiss alps. He started taking pictures at 12 and learned a lot about photography from an older photographer with great NIKON equipment. His first camera - bought when he was 15 with money he had earned himself - was an affordable PRAKTICA (made in DDR, i.e. the former East Germany).
As a young man, working for SWISSAIR, he was able to travel a lot and mainly took pictures of landscapes and people.
He got married and had a boy and a girl. When the children got older and his former wife became a model, he started taking pictures again.
He works digitally with CANON equipment, has been published in many books and on many websites. He organizes workshops and phototrips to sardinia. Karl Louis also is active in webdesign and webmanagement.
