Le Sottisier avait été publié déjà en 4880, sur une cepie fort incomplète. La c0pie du prince Labanof comble les lacunes qui se trouvent dans cette édition. Pourtant nous ne dissimulerons pas au lecteur que nous avons du faire quelques suppressions. Nous avons sacrifié certaines poésies ordurières qui oftraient peu d'intérêt; elles sont tirées d'ouvrages où elles ont été copiées par Voltaire, et sont connues pour la plupart.
