Gerhard Richter (né en 1932) est unanimement considéré comme l'un des plus importants peintres encore en activité et a exposé dans les plus grandes institutions du monde. Connu tant pour ses tableaux figuratifs inspirés de la photographie que pour ses peintures abstraites. Richter associe de manière inédite des éléments empruntés à ces deux champs artistiques.

Cette vaste exposition, fruit d'une collaboration entre la Tate Modern à Londres, la Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen à Berlin et le Centre Pompidou à Paris, retrace toute la carrière de Gerhard Richter.

He's as well known for his figurative works as he is for his abstract paintings, often combining elements of both in ground-breaking ways.
