Providing Global Public Goods: Managing Globalization

This publication presents a series of analyses enhancing a fuller understanding of the provision of global public goods. The book shows how the provision of public goods involves multiple authorities and actors whose reaction to crises may be dictated by political interest rather than by genuine concern. The text highlights many weaknesses in the provision of global public goods and provides constructive policy messages to make globalization more manageable. It analyzes the effect on national policy of issues such as HIV/AIDS, financial stability, and peace and security, and examines the difference between globalization and international cooperation.
