The Nazi Persecution of the Gypsies

The Nazi Persecution of the Gypsies

    Description

The Nazi Persecution of the Gypsies is a history of the Nazi treatment of the Gypsy population. Lewy tells the story of the Reich's incremental policy formation, using German and Austrian archival materials, a policy which resulted in extermination as the "solution" to Europe's Gypsy population. Lewy compares the fate of the Gypsies to that of European Jews, homosexuals, and other "undesirables", ultimately concluding that there was no general programme of extermination analogous to the Final Solution of the Jewish Question.
